The ambulance is operated by Stratton Mountain Rescue, a division of the Carlos Otis Clinic and manned by volunteers. The "new" ambulance is equipped with state of the art advanced life support equipment and medications. Stratton Mountain Rescue provides year round 911 service to the community and transfers critically ill or injured patients from the Carlos Otis Clinic to local hospitals. In 2008 Stratton Mountain Rescue responded to 117 emergencies in Stratton, Winhall, and Londonderry. The Clinic owns and operates an ambulance, a Ford Lifeline Superliner vehicle - Stratton Mt. Rescue. With the cooperation of other local rescue squads, our ambulance is allowed to operate from 7am-5pm every day throughout the year. During other hours, Londonderry Rescue Squad covers the Stratton area. During operating hours, our ambulance covers a specified area which serves the local Stratton community; not just the skiers. The ambulance is staffed by Stratton Ski Patrollers who volunteer their services to Stratton Mt. Rescue. Fees are charged for transport from the Clinic to the hospital; but not for rescue calls. All operations are per the Vermont EMS protocols. When it is determined that immediate helicopter transport is necessary, we have all protocols in place with DHART (Dartmouth Hitchcock Air Response Team) and Albany Med Flight. |
