Joel Pasternack, MD, PhD is Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Pasternack works as attending physician in the emergency department at Strong Memorial Hospital and at Golisano Children's Hospital. His education includes ScB from Brown University, MA in Mathematical Physics, PhD in Mathematcs from Princeton University, and M.D. from University of Rochester. His residency training was in surgery and he has worked as an Emergency Physician since 1982.  He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Dr. Joel Pasternack has lectured on a broad range of Emergency Medicine topics.  In addition to his clinical work, he has a full schedule of conferences and procedures labs for medical students and physicians in training. He has received numerous teaching accolades including the clinical teaching award voted by the Emergency Medicine residents and the Keith Minor Ford award voted by the graduating medical student class at the University of Rochester.
